So you Want to Have a Beach Themed Wedding…

You know that you have always wanted to get married right next to the surf on the sand, but you’re not sure how you will pull off a beach themed wedding.  Check out some of these ideas to help plan out your beach themed wedding!

Beach Themed Wedding Invitations

What do you think of when you think of the beach?  You think of the water, the white sand, the endless stretch of blue sky that seemingly goes on forever.  You can include beach scenery, sunsets, or very beach-related motifs such as palm trees, flip flops, bikinis, seashells or starfish.  Include tropical fish if you’re a big fish lover or if you want to add a splash of color to your invitations.

Beach Themed Wedding Décor

The fabulous thing about having a beach themed wedding is that there are a lot of different things that you can use for decorations on your special day.  Off of the top of your head, you can probably think of several different tings, such as:

  • Seashells
  • Pearls
  • Starfish
  • Anchors
  • Ropes
  • Flip Flops
  • Sand (if you aren’t actually on  beach)

Boats and nautical themes also work very well with beach themed weddings.

You can use these items in several different ways, such as having seashell and starfish engraved candles be on your table or to give them out as favors.  Floating candles are almost always a must and make a fantastic yet cheap center piece.  Some other things you can consider are Tiki holders, palm trees, and swim suits.

Beach Themed Wedding Favors

Apart from the candles mentioned above, a practical and all-time favorite favor for any destination wedding is luggage tags.  You can find luggage tag favors that match your beach them by having a beach them engraved or painted onto the luggage tags.  You can find luggage tags from cheap to expensive, so you have a wide range of options to play with here.

Starfish wine stoppers or soap are also easy and practical ideas that you can use on your special day, or you can also bottle up small bits of sand and shells from the beach you are having your wedding on so your guests have a special memento from that special day.

Beach Themed Dress

Most brides would rather die than be trapped inside a large, heavy dress while standing under the blistering sun.  All because you can’t have that large, fancy ball gown doesn’t mean that you have to wear a casual wedding dress.  Choose a dress that is slimmer and that is made of lightweight material.  Or you can also choose a dress that does not flow down to your ankles and beyond.  Choose a dress that is cut off at around the knees, or choose a dress that is flowing and that will look beautiful billowing in that beach breeze.  You can choose to be barefoot, or you can invest in some sparkly flip flops to compliment your look.
